Can you believe it? When Robert Pattinson first took on the role of Edward Cullen in Twilight, he just thought it was going to be a small movie. Instead, it’s one that has changed his life in a major way forever!
The Twilight saga movies are anything but small. But Robert Pattinson really didn’t think the first Twilight movie was going to be anything good when he first signed on to play vampire Edward Cullen. He says he couldn’t even find a copy of the book in England and that, “Hardly anyone I knew had read them apart from one girl, a friend of my sister. I had no idea at all.”
And it’s not like the movie had any major stars in it. Pattinson says, “I‘d seen Kristen Stewart in Into the Wild and some of the director’s other films, and that’s all I thought it was, something really small.” Now, if you were to see Kristen Stewart in a film, you know it’s going to be a big one!
It seems like nobody knew how big the movie would be, even the producers. According to Robert Pattinson, “I don’t think even the production company had any idea the extent of the success they had on their hands until the weekend of its release.” And now look at them! They’re starting to film the third of the Twilight movies, and everyone is eagerly waiting for the second, New Moon, to come out in theaters.
Think about how much Robert Pattinson’s life has changed since the first Twilight movie! It’s funny how you can go from being a small-time actor to one of the most popular people in the world.
