Is Catherine Hardwicke ditching Summit for better things?

It sounds like Catherine Hardwicke is leaving Twilight’s production company, Summit Entertainment, to take on some new movies. That would mean backing away from directing If I Stay, the Summit film she signed on to do. What gives?

I always wondered if she was upset she didn’t get asked back to direct New Moon. After all, Twilight was such a huge success and a lot of it was because of Catherine Hardwicke’s amazing directing and casting skills. But then we never heard anything about it and I simply assumed Summit knew from the start that they wanted a different director for each film.

But could Catherine Hardwicke be angry? Or is she simply moving on because the opportunities are greater elsewhere? After all, according to reports, Catherine Hardwick has signed on to direct the Leonardo DiCaprio produced Red Riding Hood. Considering it’s a Leonardo produced film, it’s likely to be pretty successful. Plus, the movie is said to be about werewolves and a teenage love triangle, something Catherine obviously knows a lot about!

Catherine Hardwicke is also said to be directing two other movies: a modern day Hamlet starring Emile Hirsch and a teen fantasymovie, Maximum Ride. I definitely think that Twilight was only the beginning of Catherine’s career and she’s definitely moving on to even bigger things!
